Virtual SAT diagnostics tests — why do counsellors love them?
Since brainstorming the idea of virtual SAT Diagnostic Tests with a counsellor from a partner school in Doha back in October 2020, we have incorporated them in our free offering for international school students. Today, thanks to Millie, students from over 250 international schools across more than 60 countries take them on a monthly basis, and these numbers are growing fast.
The popularity with students is easy to understand. By taking our mock test (a simulation of the entire exam, excluding the essays part), students get a feel of what it’s like to take the test alongside other students, in a proctored and timed environment. After the test, they get a report with a total score and a breakdown of how they did in each section. They also get invited to an interactive feedback session, during which we go through the test and interpret the results, while they can ask any questions. Students access all of this free of charge, and from the comfort of their homes!
There are at least three reasons why counsellors appreciate our support with SAT Diagnostic Tests.
- SATs are still important. Despite the decrease in popularity of testing, counsellors know that for international students looking at US universities and at an increasing number of top global universities, having a good SAT score is an important part of their application. Our test makes it easy for counsellors to suggest to students to measure themselves, and then decide next steps based on the score.
- Data and insights. Counsellors get access — via the unique Millie platform — to an aggregated report with scores of their students across all diagnostics they have taken with us. Furthermore, they can view a school leaderboard for each test, so they can place their school on a global map. Our diagnostics are taken from students from leading international schools worldwide, so it is a great sample to measure their students against.
- Convenience. It’s a completely stress-free process. After informing students of the upcoming test, we do the rest. From sharing instructions after students register and answering any questions until the exam; to proctoring the exam itself and informing students and counselors when results are out; our diagnostics are a great way for counsellors to get specialized help in an area (test prep) where it’s sometimes hard to get quality and transparent support.
We look forward to collaborating with more international schools and impacting more international school student futures. So if you are a counsellor who is interested in our free Partner School Program (which includes access to SAT Diagnostic Tests, and a lot more), or would like to bring this to your current school or alma mater, find out more on our website or apply here.
